As a digital native, I am interested in critically addressing the changes and proposals produced by new technologies at an affective and socio-cultural level. To this end, I draw on both post-humanists theoretical analysis and my own sensitive experience as a user and that of my immediate environment. In my practice I remix cultural consumption that I identify as iconic of my generation - the new globalised digital sensibilities - with a queer, decolonial and sustainable perspective. I am interested in digital pop practices such as the selfie: the way in which we publicly self-affirm and self-legitimise ourselves. I work on the aesthetics of narcissism through the use of my own image and the I®: identity as brand and product. Thus, my work can be read as the unfolding of the mixed physical and virtual universe of my own avatar: an identity representation, an object or an on/offline subject.
I work in different media and formats such as video installation, 3D technology, performance, interventions in public space and sound. The result is transdisciplinary projects whose realisation involves collaborations with artists and professionals from different fields, as well as the appropriation of free and downloadable community data from the internet. Many works culminate in complex developments that interweave digital fabrication, co-creation and ethical do it yourself methodologies such as 3D printing and electronic circuit design in combination with semi-industrial processes. An open, dynamic, delocalised, human-cyborg, physical and virtual collaborative network. The developments involve criteria of usability, sustainability and interactivity. That is why I call them performative objects or speculative prostheses.
The collaboration is not only during the process of making, but also in the subsequent use of the objects producing performance or audiovisual works, as well as in moments of reflection; conversations, performative lectures and essays. My practice includes writing and research. Blurring the boundaries between disciplines is an invitation to blur self-imposed boundaries.
